I don't know what you're expecting to find here. I can tell you there won't be a format. There probably won't be a "Wednesday wisdom" post or any other pattern you can count on. Unless you count random as a pattern. Then maybe. Which seems kind of funny if you know me, for I am a woman of order and structure and planning. I can be a list-makin' maniac who likes to plan ahead for meals and school lessons and family vacations, and my idea of a fun afternoon alone might involve organizing something (like my entire attic this winter in two-tote intervals, if the winter lasts long enough!)
But I also am a word collector, a writer, a reader. The very words that make my lists possible intrigue me and challenge me; they tease me with possibilities of adventure and discovery. I like the way some words look on paper, I love how the letters whisper out of the end of my favorite click pencil and wait quietly on the paper for me to discover their beauty. And their meanings, so nuanced and complex. Ahh. So this blog will be a place for part of my word collection.
But there is more to writing than words. "To be a writer is to bear witness to all that you have seen and heard." My heart says yes to this quote from Ellen Douglas, and this will be one place I will bear witness of both nature and human nature. When I hear a great horned owl (who, who, who-who-who, whoooo)) I might bear witness here. When I read, "Always we begin again," (St. Benedict) and see hope for parenting failures (and every other kind of failure for that matter,) I can bear witness here. I hope you'll join me.
