The tractor-trailer delivery trucks (to other locations!) are the worst of the trouble, because they can barely navigate the turn and occasionally have to back themselves out the way they've come it.
I think the "NO THRU TRAFFIC" sign came first, a gentle warning tacked onto the signage already in place thanks to the addition of 9-1-1 coverage in our area some years ago. But no one seemed to think the sign applied to them, and the unwanted vehicle traffic continued.
So, the signage was adjusted one more time, with the addition of three more words in shiny reflective letters: FOR BIG TRUCKS.
It all seems so clear and obvious. How frustrating. Why don't people just read the message, take the next road right and continue on their way? What is so hard about reading the sign(s)?
I wonder if God ever feels this way, exasperated at our seeming inability or unwillingness to read the signs He places right in front of us and act accordingly.
I read a warning or a promise or a bit of instruction but do I proceed differently through my day?
Do I take the other route, or do I keep moving blindly forward and end up wedged?
without taking notice
of the incredible beauty surrounding me,
without pausing to say thank you for the lovely backdrop on which I live my life,
without acknowledging the Creator of all this, who writes truth in my life every day.
